PNDC, Powerful Non-Defensive Communication: A Deepening Retreat with Sharon EIlison, July 2010
One of my year’s highlights over the last 13 years has been the opportunity to participate in this life-changing, week-long workshop.
Every morning and throughout the week, I offer Way of Joy tools to embody the spirit of non-defensiveness—techniques to enhance our ability to ask curious questions, give direct feedback while expressing our own position, and set limits—all in spontaneous and empowering ways. Vicki’s Way of Joy Spring season came to a close on June 21 with beautiful heart connections, lots of laughter, and many moving reports of profound transformations. This season included 2 Way of Joy Level I class series, two Blossom in the Spring workshops, Vicki’s first classes in Daisy Lee’s Radiant Lotus Women’s Qigong, and her always popular spring quarter course, Embodying Spirit, at John F. Vicki celebrated World Tai Chi Qigong Daywith gracious hosts Sifu Chris and Fayne Bouguyon in Dallas, Texas. Shown above are images from a series of Vicki's workshops given throughout the weekend of April 23-25 where "breakthrough" experiences were reported by many. Vicki launched her series of spring workshops with Blossom in the Spring in Trinity County on Sunday, April 11. A group of intrepid students faced the rain to come out to the Khira Yoga Studio in Hayfork for an afternoon of deeply integrative work with this beautiful seasional form. Vicki continued the series with Blossom in the Spring in Oakland on April 18.
On April 3 Vicki traveled to Los Angeles for the premiere of Mamo Kim's new play CrazyMaking. She worked with Professor/Director Joyce Lu in sevaral capacities for this play, including training cast members in a theatrical use of qigong and tai chi.. The show was a huge success with sold-out audiences and glowing responses.
On January 31, after attending a weekend board retreat in Austin, TX with the National Qigong Association, Vicki presented Riding the Chi of Change a workshop on transition. She concluded with a short, improvised theater piece about her relationship with her father, showing the power of transition in the Way of Joy process when we work over time to achieve personal empowerment within the context of difficult, long-term relationships. This workshop is scheduled to be presented at the NQA conference in August, 2010.
The combination of four photos above (2001) shows Vicki demonstrating "Summoning the Spherical Fuel," one of a series of eight flowing forms she teaches in addition to other sitting, standing, walking and internal forms.
